1. Read this first

+
  • Fiber is delicate! It is made of thin strands of glass. Do not bend, roll it in tight coils, or pinch it under furniture.
  • Do not touch the end of your fiber cable and keep it as clean as possible! Grease from your fingers, dust, lint, and scratches can disrupt the cable’s performance, resulting in less-than-stellar internet service.
  • Do not look into the ends of an active cable, as it can cause eye damage.
  • Do not bend the fiber cable. Keep it off the ground to avoid a tripping hazard or damage caused by pet chewing and moving furniture. The cable will run from your wall plate to your new router – just follow the same path as your old one!

2. Disconnect your old equipment

+
  • Unplug the power cord on your old router from the wall. If you have other equipment, such as a battery system or a laptop plugged into your router with an ethernet cord, unplug these as well.
  • Locate the wall plate in your home where the fiber cable from your router is plugged in. Open the bottom of the plate to access the cord.
  • To unplug the thin fiber cable from the green port in your wall plate, grasp the hard green plastic and pull down gently.
  • Place your old equipment in the bag provided and return it to the Delta or Montrose DMEA/ Elevate office.

3. Connect your new router

+
  • Remove the cap from the cable that is attached to your new router and be careful not to touch the tip.
  • To plug this fiber end into your wall plate, grasp the green plastic with the external notch facing you and push gently until you hear a ‘click.’
  • Close the wall plate being careful not to pinch or bend the cable.

4. Mount and power your new router

+
  • You can mount your router on the base stand or a wall. For either option, make sure the router is right-side up.
  • Plug the round end of your power cord into the router where shown and the other end into your wall outlet. Attach the ethernet cords you unplugged in Step 1a to your new router.

5. Activate your internet service

+
  • After you plug in the power cord, your router will boot up. The light on the front should flash orange initially, then red, and then eventually solid green. Please wait approximately 10 minutes for this process to complete.
  • If your router light does not turn green after 10 minutes, please contact Elevate Tech Support at 970-363-HELP.

5. Install ElevateIQ
